What it does

EOBI pays old-age pensions to people who worked in the private sector. Its registry lists the employers who must sign up their staff, and the workers themselves, with the details employers are required to report about them.

Why it matters

A worker's pension depends on what this registry says about their employment.

Legal basis: Employees' Old-Age Benefits Act, 1976 (Act No. XIV of 1976), sections 10 and 11.
